Disney announced that Amy Sedaris would play an original new role in her live-action version of The Lion King. according to Variety, Sedaris will play an elephant shrew. Because it's a Category G affair, the Sedaris character will not be able to tell if his nose looks like a ding-dong or whatever you expect from the woman who brought Jerri Blank to life.
During the Thanksgiving weekend, Disney released the first teaser trailer of its new Lion King, and it's quickly become the second most-watched trailer in YouTube's history. But the ever-changing Circle of Hype demands that all that is big has a backlash, and Twitter was blazing with people who were decrying the new film because it was derived, less colorful than the original, and generally less magical than the animated version.
Well, a completely unoriginal and cynical money grabbing would she have a new elephant shrew character? And would this character be played by a humorous comedy legend that exudes authenticity? Huh? Check and mate.
