An 81-year-old shop who offered to pay $ 200,000 to his mother for his 8-year-old daughter in a port in Orange, Florida, was arrested, a Walmart store said, police said.
Officials confirmed Monday that the suspect, named Hellmuth Kolb, had been transferred to Volusia County Jail on September 29 after the mother, Tracy Nigh, reported the incident. The suspect was charged with prison and false imprisonment, WKMG-TV said in Orlando.
Police said Kolb approached Nigh on Friday while sitting on a bench inside Walmart on Dunlawton Avenue. The suspect first asked her if she was married before turning her attention to the child. He would have asked her if she would accept money in exchange for her daughter.
"The first amount was $ 100,000, the second was $ 150,000, and the final amount was $ 200,000," said Nigh. "I then replied, no, we have to go." the girl's arm and kissed her wrist, police added.
The mother told Walmart about what had happened before leaving the store quickly.
Kolb was filmed under CCTV, which confirmed the mother's account. The suspect was identified through his credit card and social media transactions, investigators said. At least one other woman recounted a similar experience with Kolb, reported today the Associated Press.

The suspect has paid the bond and is no longer in prison.
Kolb's neighbor, Cliff Sistrunk, said the suspect was married. When reporters approached Kolb at his home, he denied knowing why he had been arrested – and slammed his doorway.
