The crash of a Saturday limousine in Schoharie, NY, killed 18 people and two pedestrians, making it the deadliest accident in the United States for more than 13 years.

Here are 10 other road accidents that have killed 20 or more.

• September 17, 1963. In the deadliest road accident in US history, a makeshift bus carrying 58 migrant workers was struck by a freight train in Chualar, California, resulting in 32 fatalities.

• May 21, 1976. Twenty-eight students and one teacher died when a bus carrying the choir of Yuba City High School collapsed from a highway ramp near Martinez, California.

• August 4, 1952. Two Greyhound buses collided south of Waco, Texas, killing 28 people, including several soldiers and airmen.

• February 28, 1958. A bus carrying 48 elementary and high school students to Prestonburg, Kentucky, left the road, taking a dike and entering a river, where it was submerged after being swept downstream. Twenty-seven are dead.

• May 14, 1988. A church bus returning from an amusement park collided with a pickup truck near Carrollton, Kentucky, killing 24 people and killing 24 children and three adults.

• September 23, 2005. Twenty-three people died when a bus carrying residents of nursing homes to drive them away from Hurricane Rita caught fire and exploded on a highway south of Dallas.

• May 9, 1999. A bus to a casino in St. Louis, Mississippi Bay, near the Louisiana Line, used a New Orleans Highway on Mother's Day, killing 22 people. The investigators said that several health problems and the use of marijuana and an antihistamine had altered the driver.

• 21 September 1989. A school bus collided with a soft drink truck and fell into a pit filled with water near Mission, Texas, leaving 21 dead and 60 injured.

• May 30, 1986. Twenty-one passengers died when a high-speed Starline Sightseeing Tours bus crashed into a canyon near Walker, California, when returning from a Nevada casino in Santa Monica.

• June 5, 1980. A tour bus carrying mostly seniors from Dallas to Branson, Missouri, plunged into a 40-foot ravine near Jasper, Arkansas, killing 20 people and wounding 13 others.
