The passenger plane was flying from Amsterdam to the Houston George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Texas
A plane bound for the United States declared an emergency flight over Scotland less than an hour after the start of his trip.
The United Airlines Boeing 777 used an Amsterdam flight to get to George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston, Texas.
It started normally this morning at 9:20 am (UK time) and was scheduled to arrive in America at 2:10 pm.
The pilots were, however, forced to declare a general emergency in the Highlands less than an hour after take-off.
Passenger removed from the EasyJet flight at Edinburgh Airport by police after asserting that his behavior had become "disruptive" and "threatening"
The plane was then diverted to Edinburgh Airport, where it landed safely, without any problem.
International Flight Network tweeted: "The UA21 United Airlines flight from Amsterdam to Houston (IAH) declared a general emergency.
"It's entertaining in Edinburgh.
"Reason currently unknown."
It is thought that the forced landing may be due to the illness of a member of the crew.
The plane has since taken off from Edinburgh and is heading to Houston.
