A man held in custody as a suspect in a Sunday morning homicide in Independence was released on bail pending trial in a previous murder case, according to court documents.
Hours after a double shootout killed one person on Sunday, the Independence Police identified Michael T. Dumas, 27, of Pleasant Hill as a suspect and took him into custody. .
The detectives are looking for Michael Dumas, 27, from Pleasant Hill, who is very interested in a deadly shooting in an early Sunday house in Independence. Dumas should be considered armed and dangerous, the police said.

The Sunday shooting took place shortly after 5:30 am in a block 3800 home on South Sterling Avenue. One person was slightly injured and a second victim died in a hospital.
At the time, Dumas was already facing a charge of second degree murder in 2017.
He and another man were charged with the shooting of Phillip J. Anderson on September 29, 2017, whose body was found in the parking lot of a Quiktrip in the United States and at Sterling Avenue, less than two kilometers from the scene of the Sunday shooting.
At the time of the 2017 murder, Jackson County prosecutors charged Dumas with second-degree murder and armed criminal acts. He was awaiting trial when he was released on bail in November 2017.
Dumas's obligation had been set at $ 150,000 in cash. But he was released after a bail hearing, according to Jackson County Court Records.
The records indicate that Dumas was released "on his own commitment" on November 4, 2017.
Sunday's double shooting and Dumas's search comes a little over a year later.
