An Arizona man accused of murdering his girlfriend the same day he was released from prison

An Arizona man was accused of murdering his girlfriend the very day of his release from the state prison, authorities said Saturday.

David James Bohart was arrested on Friday following the death of his 49-year-old girlfriend, Marika L. Jones. Police in Tucson said that police found the body of Jones wounded with knives two days earlier, as well as a file containing the archives of Bohart Prison.

Police said Jones' family was informed of his death.

Authorities found her body after a man posing as an out-of-state attorney had called the police on Wednesday about a possible murder in a house located in block 5700 of the East 24th Street in Tucson, Arizona.

In a statement, police announced that police were already investigating the area after receiving a report Monday from a man alleged to have killed his girlfriend. The man, who did not give an exact name, called 911 and said he was released from prison and killed his girlfriend.

The man claimed that he did not know the address of the fatal incident, reported Central AZ. Police searched the area but said they did not find anything.

Bohart, 34, was released Monday from the Tucson State Prison after serving a three-year sentence for possession or use of dangerous drugs. New York Daily News reported. Police said a warrant for arrest had been issued after Bohart failed to register at a court-ordered treatment center in Cottonwood, Arizona.

Police located Bohart at a hotel in Block 7000 South Tucson Boulevard, authorities said. He was arrested with the help of officers from the Southern Operations Division and members of the US Task Force on Marshal Fugitives, Tucson police said in his statement.

Bohart was enrolled in the Pima County Adult Detention Center with a warrant and a second degree murderer. He was detained on bail of $ 100,000, according to prison records.

According to the records of the Arizona Department of Corrections, Bohart has already been jailed twice. Bohart served a prison sentence for forgery and another for conviction for possession or use of dangerous drugs.
