At least five people were taken to the hospital after a shootout outside a shopping mall in Germantown neighborhood in Philadelphia on Wednesday afternoon.

The victims, aged 19 to 23, were in front of a Dollar General store on Germantown Avenue and Wister Street, around 3 pm when a white Chevrolet Impala stopped before them, the police said.

At least two armed men inside the vehicle fired 18 shots. One of the victims was shot in the head. The other four were affected by the hands, arms and foot.

The five victims were taken to the hospital. Police said that the victim who was shot in the head was in the most serious condition.

The officials have not yet published any description of the suspects.

"I can assure you that it's something stupid, like most things," said Philadelphia Police Commissioner Richard Ross. "But for now, we have a lot of unanswered questions."
