Jacob Schmoyer, 26, and his 2-year-old son, Jonathan, were killed in the Saturday blast in Allentown, Lehigh County coroner Scott Grim told reporters. Grim identified the third victim as David Hallman, 66 years old.

The three residents of Allentown died of traumatic injuries caused by the blast, Grim said.

Schmoyer and Hallman were friends, according to Don Robinson, special agent for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives' Field Office in Philadelphia.

"We have a high degree of confidence in the fact that the author was probably killed in this incident," said Lehigh County Attorney James Martin earlier in CNN's WFMZ affiliate.

The cause of the explosion remains under investigation by the authorities, including the ATF and the FBI.

Allentown police arrived at the scene after receiving 911 calls about the blast around 9:30 pm, police said.

Neighbors found pieces of the car on fire and human remains on the street, reported WFMZ. The explosion felt like they were shaking their houses, neighbors said at the station.

Robinson said the blast was an "isolated incident". According to the authorities, there is no threat in progress.

Robinson said the authorities were hoping to finish processing Tuesday.

"We are making a lot of progress both on the scene and in interviews with this investigation," said Robinson.

Allentown is 63 miles north of Philadelphia.
