A Bangladeshi immigrant convicted of acts of terrorism for throwing a rush hour craft bomb in New York City's busiest metro station insists that he did not do it for the Islamic State group.
After the Manhattan jury announced his verdict on Tuesday, Akayed Ullah has expressed himself.
He told US District Judge Richard Sullivan that he was angry at President Donald Trump for threatening to bomb the Middle East during the attack last December. His bomb fizzled and only Ullah was seriously injured.
The defense stated that Ullah had the intention of killing only himself.
Prosecutors said he wanted to maim or kill commuters as part of a "lone wolf" attack.
Ullah faces a mandatory prison term of 30 years and may be sentenced to life imprisonment. The penalty is 5 April.

A Bangladeshi immigrant who unleashed a rush hour craft bomb in the busiest metro station in New York City was found guilty of acts of terrorism.
The verdict against Akayed Ullah was made Tuesday in Manhattan federal court.
The defense stated that Ullah had the intention of killing only himself. On December 11th, no one was killed and most of the injuries were not serious.
Prosecutors said he would mutilate or kill commuters as part of a "lone wolf" terrorist attack on behalf of the "Islamic State" group.
They challenged the defense's allegation, saying that Ullah would not have borne a bomb if he had wanted to kill himself alone.
They also cited Ullah's published social media reports and comments he made after his arrest to the investigators.
