A single-engined aircraft crashed this weekend in Iowa, killing four people, after the pilot suffered a heart attack and a student pilot was forced to attempt a landing. Emergency, officials said.
The Guthrie County Sheriff's Office said the 1979 Piper device was missing from radar on Friday night after taking off from Mars. The plane was found the next morning in a cattle pasture about 115 km from its starting point.
According to a press release from the sheriff 's office, the plane has requested an emergency landing at Guthrie Airport Center. The pilot had apparently suffered a heart attack and the student pilot was attempting to land.
The victims, Edward Ralph Anderson, 49, Patrick Kellen, 36, Samantha Clark, 15, and Tyler Douvia, 28, were found dead on the scene, officials said.
The group was heading to Osceola for a hunting trip.
Their bodies were taken to the Office of the Medical Examiner of Iowa for autopsy. The Federal Aviation Association will investigate the cause of the accident.
