Eric Allen, Seth Joyner, Donovan McNabb and many other players and coaches who have spent time with the Eagles are among 102 nominees of the modern era for the promotion of professional football in 2019, announced Thursday.
The initial list of 102 former players and coaches will be reduced to 25 semi-finalists in November and 15 finalists in January before the final vote at the Super Bowl in Atlanta in February.
Eric Allen, BC
Had 34 of his 54 career interceptions in his seven years with the Eagles. Added four more INT in the playoffs, three with the Eagles. Nine INTs for touchdowns, seventh in the history of the NFL.
Seth Joyner, LB
Only player in the history of the NFL with at least 50 interceptions and 20 sacks. Joyner, now an analyst at NBC Sports Philadelphia, finished with 13 sacks and 24 INTs during her 13-year career, the first eight in Philadelphia.
Randall Cunningham, QB
Including the playoffs, collected 32,405 yards and 219 touchdowns and won 5,201 yards with an average of 6.3 in a 17-year career. Only player in the history of the NFL with 30,000 passing yards and 5,000 rushing yards.
Donovan McNabb, QB
Led the Eagles to the playoffs seven times from 2000 to 2009 and made six Pro Bowls. Ranks 12th in the history of the NFL with nine playoff wins. Had a record of 92-49-1 in 11 years with the Eagles. From 2000 to 2004, he won the most NFL quarterbacks (53).
Ricky Watters, RB
It only spent 1995-1997 with Eagles, but has accumulated 3,794 rushing yards and 161 catches during those three seasons. Pro Bowler five times, twice with Eagles. One of 14 players with 10,000 yards rushing and 400 shots. His 12 TD playoffs are sixth.
Troy Vincent, BC
Trenton, NJ, native spent eight years with the Eagles, five Pro Bowls and 28 assists. Finished his 15-year career with 47 steals and added four more in the playoffs.
Herschel Walker, RB
After starting his career in the USFL, he had 8,225 yards and 61 touchdowns with 512 assists for 4,859 yards in 12 seasons in the NFL. Ran for 2,344 yards with 163 catches in three years with the Eagles in the early '90s.
Sean Landeta, P
Landeta made two trips with the Eagles during her 21-year career. Won 1,401 times in 284 games for 60,707 yards and an average of 43.3.
Jeff Feagles, P
He played 352 games, the third in NFL history, during his 22-year career that brought him to the Eagles from 1990 to 1993. He had 73,633 yards per career, or about 42 miles of punts .
Brian Mitchell, PR-KR-RB
He had nine kick returns and four punt returns in his 14-year career, two of each during his stint with the Eagles from 2000 to 2002.
Jeff Garcia, QB
We went 5-1 and won a playoff game for the Eagles in 2006 after McNabb's injury. 11 years of experience in the NFL and three Pro Bowls after five seasons in the CFL.
Chris Warren, RB
He played only three games in uniform at the end of his 11-year career, but in 2000 he won 22 games against the Bucs.
Mark Bavaro, TE
He spent most of his career with the Giants but finished with Eagles in 1993 and 1994, catching 60 passes for 696 yards and nine touchdowns. Was 351-4,733-39 in his career.
Takeo Spikes, LB
Played only one of his 15 seasons with the Eagles, starting 14 games in 2007. Started 215 games and made two Pro Bowls with the Bills.
Dick Vermeil, HC
He won a Super Bowl with the Rams in 1999, 19 years after taking the Eagles to their first Super Bowl in 1980. He had a record of 120-109 with the Eagles, Rams and Chiefs.
Bill Cowher, AC
Cowher, who led the Super Bowl to the Steelers after the 2005 season, began his career in 1979 as a special unmanned teambacker and reserve linebacker with the Eagles. He returned here in 1983 and 1984 before perfecting himself.
