In 2014, Mason hit his wife at the time 20 times and hit his head five times against the dash of a car while their kids were in the car, police said. He then continued to beat, bite and threaten after she got out of the car.

His wife broke his orbital bone during the attack and needed a reconstructive facial surgery, according to Cleveland.com. She filed for divorce a few days later.

Police raided Mason's home and discovered an arsenal of weapons, including handguns, shotguns, semi-automatic rifles, smoke grenades and a sword, reported Cleveland.com at # 39; era.

Mason pleaded guilty to assault and domestic violence and served nine months in prison.

However, less than a year after he was released from prison, Mason was hired by Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson as the city's Director of Minority Affairs Administration.

WKYC 3 said the mayor had chosen the mason out of 13 candidates, adding that the ex-judge had close ties to Democratic representative Marcia Fudge, who is currently challenging Nancy Pelosi in the run-up to the presidency of the House of Representatives. representatives.

Mason previously served in the Senate and House of Representatives of Ohio as a Democrat.

On Saturday night, the city of Cleveland issued a statement in which it offered its condolences to Fraser's family and children and said that Lance Mason had been fired "with immediate effect".

Fraser was a sixth grade teacher in the Shaker Heights school system.

The district has announced that it will close all school buildings on Monday and Tuesday and offer advice to students, teachers and their families.
