An overview of the research of the Relic galaxy

Scientists are again tasked to explore the early days of the creation of the universe. A rare galaxy stuck in the arrested state of development is the one responsible for the scientists' excitement. It is believed that there is an unusual cosmic region that is in the frozen state. Interestingly, this region has survived the frozen state for ten billion years. Over the course of ten billion years, there has been no new formation of stars. This unusual cosmic region is called the Relic Galaxy. This relic galaxy releases an uncertain amount of red light. Red light is detected due to the proliferation of stars observed by scientists in satellite imagery.

Experts believe that this relic galaxy could be useful for unlocking secrets about the universal creation and formation of constituent galaxies. The current research work involves the geniuses of research from the Instituto de Astrofisica de Canarias at the University of La Laguna, Spain. These researchers made the best use of the Hubble Space Telescope images to continue their research.

Their first target of the study was Galaxy NGC 1277. This Galaxy NGC 1277 is composed of about a thousand billion stars. He is present in the center of the Perseus cluster. Perseus Cluster is the largest concentration of galaxies in the vicinity of our Milky Way.

It has a relative proximity which is about two hundred and twenty-five million light years away. This is because of this relative proximity which makes it ideal for the analysis of the properties of a relic galaxy. Scientists believe that the properties of the relic galaxy have remained stagnant since the early days of universal creation.

The researchers further cite that a single galaxy over a thousand massive galaxies can function as a relic galaxy.
