Andrew Gillum hits back at Donald Trump: ‘He stokes fear’

Florida gubernatorial candidate Andrew Gillum slammed President Trump Monday, accusing him of inciting fear in the country.

While speaking at a rally with Florida teacher union members, Mr. Gillum, mayor of Tallahassee, said Mr. Trump is negating his responsibility to address hatred in America, the Sun Sentinel reported.

“And instead every single day he gets on Twitter and goes to rallies and he stokes fear,” Mr. Gillum said, “His only goal is to make us afraid of each other so that we don’t trust one another so that we don’t respect each other’s humanity anymore.”

The fiery criticism came just hours after Mr. Trump called the Democrat a thief on Twitter.

Mr. Gillum shot back online, saying the president “is howling because he’s weak.”

At his rally, the Democratic nominee told his supporters that tweeting about political issues is not enough and urged them to head to the polls. He also touted himself as a candidate who would work for the environment and gun control.
