Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have turned to a new score.

Although the two men have engaged in a difficult custody battle for their six children since Jolie filed for divorce on September 20, 2016, a source told ET that the actress had recently asked Pitt to improve their relationship. of co-parenting.

"Brad and Angelina organized a secret meeting at her house," says the source. "This is the first time they have really gotten together to get things done since their group therapy with children, and the Brad and Angie meeting was a success and they will stay with the court plan. "

"Angelina decided that it was time to try to make things work and Brad was relieved and very ready for the offer," the source continues. "Brad has been dedicated to making peace throughout the process and now it finally seems that they are at a point where they can create a calmer situation for the kids."

Pitt and Jolie's legal drama has recently resurfaced after Jolie, 43, was ordered by a judge in June to help fix her children's relationship with Pitt. According to court records obtained at the time by ET, the actor was able to spend more time with five of his children – Pax, 14, Zahara, 13, Shiloh, 12 and 10. Knox and Vivienne, two-year-old twins, during the summer, while Maddox, 16, "because of his age and maturity," was able to determine how long he wanted to spend with his father.

In August, Angelina Jolie accused Pitt, 54, of not paying "valid" child support for a year and a half at a hearing, and said that she intended to obtain a court order directing her to pay. Pitt's lawyers filed their response a day later, and in court documents obtained by ET, Pitt denied that he had not paid large amounts of support and said he had paid Jolie more than $ 9 million since then. their separation from September 2016.

"Angelina created a very difficult situation for Brad and the kids and she finally realized that her behavior had failed," says our source. "Angelina loves her children a lot and it seems like she felt threatened to waste time with them and in turn she attacked … Unfortunately, all the family members suffered."

"She began to see a change in children's behavior because they were missing their father," the source adds. "The children's reaction to the divorce actually helped Angie to try a different tact."

The source notes that the meeting between Jolie and Pitt was a "big step" for both.

"They both hope to continue working together for the children," says the source.

In August, Jolie's spokesperson, Mindy Nyby, told ET in a statement that the actress simply wanted to advance the divorce process with her court case accusing Pitt of not paying "significant" child support. .

"The goal of Angelina's court record is to end marriage in a way that opens the door to the next stage of their lives and allows them and Brad to re-engage as co-parents dedicated to their children.

However, a source later told ET that Pitt had been "disgusted" by his ex-wife and legal team for letting the battle of child custody appear in public.

"He wants this to be out of sight," he added. "He knows it's not fair for kids, and he's saddened to have to be part of this affair. [public fight]. "

Of course, Jolie and Pitt both talked about keeping their relationship with children. Last May, Pitt broke the silence on their division and the subsequent holding battle for Style GQ.

"I've heard a lawyer say," No one wins in court – it's just about who gets hurt the most, "he said." And that seems to be true. You spend a year concentrating on building a record to prove your point of view and why you are right and why they are wrong, and it's simply an investment in vitriolic hatred. my partner in this is okay. "

"I see it happening to friends – I see where one of the spouses literally can not do his own part, and who is always competing with each other and wants to destroy them and needs justification by destruction, and just wasting years on this hate, "he continued. "I do not want to live like this."

As for Jolie, she said Vanity Fair last July, "we care about each other and take care of our family, and we both work for the same purpose".
