Anne Hathaway, Tina Fey, Patel Dev, more join the modern love of Amazon

Upcoming series of Amazon Modern love landed a star cast to tell stories based on the New York Times column and podcast.

This anthology of eight half-hour episodes will feature Anne Hathaway, Tina Fey, Dev Patel, John Slattery, Brandon Victor Dixon, Catherine Keener and Julia Garner. The show also signed Sharon Horgan (Disaster), Emmy Rossum (Shameless) and Tom Hall (Sensation) to direct the episodes.

"It's as if I've been woken up in the candy store's actor. We've managed to assemble the dream cast of my favorite actors," said showunner John Carney (Once, sing the street). "This testifies to the scope of the original column and the fact that, more than ever, love is the only certainty."

The casting for Modern love also includes Andy Garcia, Cristin Milioti, Olivia Cooke, Andrew Scott, Shea Whigham, Gary Carr, Sofia Boutella and John Gallagher Jr.

Modern love Jennifer Salke, head of Amazon Studios after NBC's arrival in February 2018, was one of the first recruits. The Hollywood journalist in June, she was looking for "our next big show that women too can not stop talking", with Modern love representing a step in this direction.

Horgan wrote the episode that she directs, which will feature Fey and Slattery (guest at Fey's ### 30 rocks back in 2010). Hall also wrote the episode that he directs, while the Rossum episode was written by the late Audrey Wells (The Hate U Give, under the Tuscan sun).

Modern love, from Storied Media Group and The New York Times, is currently in production in New York. The Carney Executive produces with Todd Hoffman and Sam Dolnick and Choire Sicha the Time. Trish Hoffman is a producer; "Modern Love" publisher Daniel Jones is a consulting producer.
