"Black-ish" star Anthony Anderson is currently under criminal investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department.

According to The Blast, Anderson allegedly assaulted a woman last year after an event that she took charge of for the actor. "It is unfortunate that anyone can file a police report, whether true or false," said the representative of Anderson in a statement to Variety . "The authorities have not contacted Anthony or any of his representatives about this." Anthony challenges the claim unequivocally. "

The Blast cited sources familiar with the situation, who said that the woman met Anderson a second time after the event to discuss future business opportunities with the actor when the aggression took place. She then filed a police report with the LAPD's Hollywood division

The LAPD confirmed to Variety that a criminal investigation was underway, but had no additional information at this time and could not reveal the nature of the investigation .

Although the woman apparently did not report directly after the alleged incident, according to The Blast, she felt comfortable coming forward a few months later thanks in part to Me Too movement. has seen many women open up about abuse experiences by powerful men in the entertainment industry.

The incident is not the first time Anderson has been charged with misconduct. The actor has just received his fourth Emmy nomination for his role as patriarch Andre Johnson in the ABC family sitcom of Barris, Black-ish. He should receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame later this year.
