Anthony Bourdain wins the Emmys of posthumous creative arts

Only a few months after his death, Anthony Bourdain has won several Emmy Awards posthumously for his television work.

During the Sunday evening Creative Arts Emmy Awards, Bourdain received honors for the exceptional writing of a fiction program and a series of exceptional or special information, according to Deadline.

His CNN series, Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown, won additional victories for image editing, sound editing and sound mixing. Anthony Bourdain: Exploring Unknown Pieces, the online component of the series, has been named non-fiction in abbreviated format or in reality.

"Tony has been nominated for this Emmy several times," said producer Lydia Tenaglia, accepting the trophy, according to Deadline. "But that had always escaped him, the one that he had always coveted, so it's with a bitter sweetness that I accept it on his behalf."

"He really left for a trip to unknown regions," she added. "We wish we were here to film him with him, and he really would have written this episode."

The series has been nominated for 31 Emmy Awards to date and has won five other times: four of them were exceptional information or special series and one in 2013 for outstanding cinematography for non fiction programming .

Bourdain committed suicide in June at the age of 61. "It is with extraordinary sadness that we can confirm the passing of our friend and colleague Anthony Bourdain," CNN said in a statement. "His love for great adventure, new friends, great food and world-famous stories have made him a unique storyteller. His talents have never ceased to amaze us and we will miss him very much.

The Tribeca TV Festival presents the first episode of Unknown partsTwelfth and last season in September. An episode will feature W. Kamau Bell, who praised Bourdain before Creative Arts Emmys.

Bell tweeted, "On my birthday, I have to make sure to honor the man who allowed me to have #UnitedShades. Without @anthonybourdain going to @CNN and showing us all the new possibilities, I would not have my show. Thank you Tony. And thank you for bringing me to Africa for the first time.

On Sunday, John Legend earned his EGOT status at the ceremony. And one day before, the Emmys Creative Arts honored Tiffany Haddish, James Corden and The iron Throne, among other winners.
