LeBron James insisted that the possibility of Carmelo Anthony joining the Los Angeles Lakers is beyond his control as he lamented the loss of Rajon Rondo after his team's loss to Saturday's Orlando Magic.
Anthony is looking for a new team after the Houston Rockets announced that they were separating from the All Star 10 times after a disappointing series of 10 games with them.
At 34, James is a good friend of James. The two men both entered the NBA in 2003, and their relationship led to suggestions that Anthony could be a target for the Lakers.

However, James returned a question about this to the Los Angeles reception desk.
"To be honest, I have no idea," he told reporters.
"We do not even have a position available for the moment, so it's not a question for me."

Los Angeles (8-7) will try to get back on the track Sunday against the Miami Heat (6-9). James will return to the team with which he won two NBA titles at the beginning of the decade.
"It sounds so new," said James, who left Miami to join the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2014.
