LONDON (Reuters) – British anti-terrorist police were investigating two alleged improvised explosive devices that were discovered Wednesday in an unoccupied apartment in north-west London.

The block of flats in Harlesden was evacuated during the operation to secure the devices. Residents have since been allowed to return, the London Metropolitan Police said in a statement.

The devices are undergoing forensic examination and the command of the force counter-terrorism force has launched an investigation.

Chief Superintendent Simon Rose invited the public to share any information.

"I also want to reassure the local community that we have conducted preventive searches in the vicinity to ensure that there is nothing similar nearby, which I am happy to confirm, "he said.

Britain is at its second-highest level of threat after several attacks in 2017.
