The president of Apple has approved strict privacy laws in Europe and the United States and renewed the commitment of the technology giant to the protection of users' personal data.
Apple CEO Tim Cook also warned that personal data was being "militarized" against users, commented Wednesday at an international conference on data protection.
Mr Cook congratulated the authorities of the European Union for adopting this year a new strict law on data confidentiality.
He said the company fully supports a comprehensive federal privacy law in the United States.
Cook's remarks, as well as subsequent comments by Google and Facebook, at the European Union headquarters in Brussels, point out that US tech giants are trying to gain favor with the region as regulators reinforce their monitoring.
