Arby's fast food chain can be counted on for "meat", but it seems like you can also count on poultry.
The restaurant has added a new poultry product to its menu – and people are frantic about social media.
On October 20, Arby's adds duck to the menu as a sandwich.
The duck will come from Maple Leaf Farms, a company specializing in the bird. Each duck breast will be cooked under vacuum, then burned and topped with a sauce of smoked cherries and crisp onions. The sandwich will cost $ 6.99 and customers will be able to get it in a sandwich for $ 8.99.
The reaction on social media is a mix of confusion, enthusiasm and hilarity.
However, it seems that many people will never be able to try the duck sandwich because it will be served in very limited quantities in only 16 locations in the United States.
These particular sites were chosen for a reason, according to the company. They are close to "waterfowl flyways" and "near duck hunting grounds".
Arby's has also partnered with Ducks Unlimited to assist with the conservation, restoration and management of wetlands and associated waterfowl habitats in North America.
"A lot of our customers love to hunt. That's why we launched the "The Season of His Meat" campaign a few years ago behind our venison sandwich. As a nod to our duck-hunting guests, we are proud to offer this incredible duckling sandwich to a limited number of markets in the main poultry flyways, "said Jim Taylor. Director of Marketing at Arby's, TODAY Food.
This is not the first time Arby's has launched a surprising new meat. Last year, the chain served venison for a limited time, with mixed responses.
