One of the last houses owned by Aretha Franklin has been sold. According to Associated Press and the Detroit NewsThe 5,600-square-foot residence, consisting of five bedrooms and six bathrooms, was purchased by a local resident for $ 300,000 in October. The agreement, which also includes an empty half-acre lot next to the house, has now been formally settled by Aretha Franklin's estate.
"There are no other properties in Detroit," said Sabrina Garrett-Owens, representative of Franklin's estate, at Detroit News. "There is no connection with (the) new owner."
Franklin's Bloomfield Township Detroit home is 4,180 square meters and is still for sale at $ 800,000. The recently sold property was purchased by Franklin in 1993 and was almost seized in 2008 after generating $ 19,192 in unpaid property taxes.
Earlier this month, Franklin's estate announced the release of his 1972 concert film amazing Grace after 46 years. The Charles H. Wright African-American History Museum in Detroit has also announced a new exhibition celebrating the life and legacy of the Queen of the Souls. Last August, a Detroit Park was renamed in honor of Franklin, who died this month after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. She was 76 years old.
