Ariana Grande premiered her new single "Thank U, Next" for "Ellen DeGeneres Show" on Wednesday – but it was not the only "first" part of her number.
The superstar singer has also channeled a beloved big-screen moment from "The First Wives Club".
Grande, along with other singer-songwriters Tayla Parx and Victoria Monet, took the stage in all-white colors and presented movements reminiscent of those that the trio of stars of the 1996 film had already performed themselves.

Great has long expressed his love for comedy about three women seeking revenge for men who have made them miserable.
But the wink of Grande to the movie about "Ellen" was not that a random backtracking. "Thank U, Next" shares a theme with the film and the success of Gore, as it is an inspiring anthem of breakup and progression.
The 25-year-old has signed her latest piece after her highly publicized separation from former fiancé Pete Davidson, although that does not concern her. It's about his own growth after this swirling love story and the others that preceded it.
"I thought I would end up with Sean, but it was not a match. / I wrote songs about Ricky, now I'm listening and I'm laughing / I almost got married, and for Pete, I'm so grateful / I'd like to be able to say "thanks to Malcolm, since he was an angel," she sings.
After checking the names of Davidson, Ricky Alvarez, Big Sean and his late ex-Mac Miller, Big Book then an ode to his "new" love in the song.
"I know they're saying I'm going too fast / But this one's going to last / Because she's calling Ari / And I'm so good at it."
