The first performance of Ariana Grande the ballad about his exes, "Thank U, Next", was almost flawless, with the exception of a small literal misstep.

At Wednesday's "Ellen DeGeneres Show", the singer had her "First Wives Club", sandwiched between two dancers dressed in white. The trio even did the same dance moves as the revenge-wives played by Goldie Hawn, Bette Midler and Diane Keaton, while they celebrated their independence while chanting "You Do not Own Me" at the end of the 1996 film.

Grande's lyrics to the song, which was dropped Saturday night, just before her ex-fiancé Pete Davidson's "Saturday Night Live" show celebrates the happiness found with her new love after failed relationships with the comedian, as well as Big Sean, Ricky Alvarez and the late Mac Miller. The anthem shares the feeling of empowering oneself with "First Wives", a film privileged by Grande.

After briefly dancing on a chair, wearing high-heeled boots and above the knee, Grande tripped while trying to get off. It seems that his left boot is caught in the fluid and asymmetrical fabric attached to his costume.

"Oh my God!" Great let out, before returning to the microphone to continue his performance. Apparently able to find humor in the moment, she then left a nervous laugh.

Unfortunately for Grande, it was not her only blunder. Although she made an exit from the stage of which no doubt Elise, Brenda and Annie would be proud – climbing the stairs while screwing up "First Wives" – it turns out that she was supposed to stay to talk to the host.

"She's gone, she's gone," DeGeneres remarked, surprised by her fugitive guest.

"We were supposed to go down?" asked a confused Grande after returning to the stage. "I thought we were supposed to go out?"

"No," replied DeGeneres.

"Oh, my bad, I thought we were supposed to come out on top, my bad," said Grande.

"It's totally good," said DeGeneres. "We are glad you came back."

Great played for the first time since leaving with Davidson for NBC's special "A Very Naughty Halloween: 15 Years on Broadway" broadcast on October 29, just days after the announcement of the tour of his latest album "Sweetener".
