They call it Pac-12 After Dark for a reason, guys. Everything can happen.

Led to 13-3 in the fourth quarter, Arizona State resumed Herm Edwards' second game as head coach and scored 16-13 against Michigan State with a 28-yard pitch from Brandon Ruiz.

The Sun Devils struggled to move the ball with much effect or put points on the board for the majority of the game – the ASU was 3-0 down at half-time – but they had when he counted.

Ruiz reduced the deficit to 13-6 less than a minute into the last quarter to pave the way for the dramatic return. After trading possessions against a spell, quarterback Manny Wilkins unleashed the Sun Devils in a 65-yard touchdown run, first completing a 38-yard pass against Kyle Williams, before finding N & # 3939; Keal Harry for 27 yards. – touch the ground.

The Spartans grabbed the ensuing possession and sent the ball back to the Sun Devils with just under five minutes to play. The state of Michigan never saw the ball again, while Wilkins led his team on a 13-yard, 69-yard run that accumulated the rest of the game time except for three seconds, which allowed Ruiz to win the match.

The late goal on the ground required judicious management of the clock, which is not something that Herm Edwards necessarily knew in his career. But he and the Sun Devils did it Saturday night.

"Our good players had to play games and obviously No. 1 [N’Keal Harry] grew up, "said Edwards after the match.

Both Wilkins and Michigan State QB, Brian Lewerke, passed the 300-yard mark as neither team was able to play a good game. Wilkins finished with 380 yards in 30 out of 48 passes while Lewerke shot 27 of 39 yards for 314 yards. Both had a choice and a touchdown.

But the most important story was that Edwards won a victory early in his term in the Arizona State – which very few of them expected – to stay unbeaten at 2-0.
