LONDON (AP) – Arsenal won its fifth straight Premier League game Saturday, beating Watford 2-0 with two late goals at Emirates Stadium.

The Unai Emery team survived many fears and an injury to goalkeeper Petr Cech before securing late points.

Craig Cathcart, in the 81st minute, scored the goal before Mesut Ozil returned home two minutes later to score the goal.

Aaron Ramsey started for the Gunners despite news announced earlier in the week about the collapse of negotiations on a new deal.

Alexandre Lacazette wanted a penalty for Arsenal with referee Anthony Taylor impeccable and, minutes later, the striker missed a golden opportunity, beating Cathcart up to the ball but then sending a token fumble from Ben Foster.

Cech is injured on the stroke of halftime. He stopped after a goal kick and was replaced by Bernd Leno – the summer rookie making his Premier League debut.

The German goalkeeper had an instant, descending impact to drop Troy Deeney's effort following a free kick played by visitors.

Arsenal looked useless in front of goal.

Lucas Torreira, entered in the first half for a late challenge on Deeney, played in Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang whose center was deflected by Lacazette.

For Watford, Roberto Pereyra was attempting an entry from a sharp angle, but sent him away after Leno did well to get out of his line and stop Andre Gray 's efforts.

Arsenal had the chance to take the lead as Cathcart returned Alex Iwobi's cross over Foster, while keeping Lacazette from scoring.

The second goal followed soon after, as Ozil moved to the center after replacing the inefficient Ramsey, returning home after a crucial pass from Lacazette.

Resurgent Arsenal has 15 points in seven games and two points ahead of Watford
