Jesper Joergensen was arrested without incident by Costilla County MPs on Saturday on charges of arson related to the Spring Fire, the sheriff's office announced.

Joergensen is not a US citizen and will remain in detention until he has put in place a bond or has completed all the court processes, after which he will be handed over to the agents of immigration and customs. CNN was unable to find a contact for Joergensen or a lawyer.

Spring fire ignited on June 27 about 5 miles east of Fort Garland, Colorado, according to the Inciweb website. The fire forced evacuations of nearly 600 homes in Costilla County and about 1,500 homes in Huerfano County, said Inciweb. A total of 480 firefighters assigned and support staff worked to contain it.

Matt Booth told CNN affiliate KCNC that his family's historic summer home in La Veta, Colorado had been burned to ashes. "Just total devastation beyond anything I thought there would be," says Booth. "Before everything was wooded and you looked around you could see the forest, there is nothing left," he added.
