The ministers, who met informally on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly last week, expressed serious concern over the violence, Singapore's Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan said on Tuesday. Parliament, calling it a "man-made humanitarian disaster".

Over the past year, more than 700,000 Rohingya Muslims have fled Buddhist-dominated Myanmar to neighboring Bangladesh as a result of a military response to Rohingya insurgency attacks on security posts.

The United Nations has described Myanmar's actions as "ethnic cleansing", an accusation Myanmar rejects, accusing Rohingya "terrorists" of being the perpetrators of atrocities.
