A naked, blood-covered man stood in the street shouting, said a neighbor in shock of a grandmother found stabbed repeatedly.

Aged 75, Maureen Watkins was murdered yesterday afternoon at her home in Peckham, South London.

A 23-year-old resident, on the upper floor, said that he had gone out on the balcony at the sound of a screaming man.

He said, "He was standing on the other side of the road, covered in blood, and he was not screaming.

"He came out of the house and took off all his clothes, people told him to go to bed, so he did it.

"(Maureen) was lying on the threshold, covered in blood, it was crazy, like a movie."

Floral tributes left on the scene

A family came and left two bunches of flowers outside the police cassette shortly after 2 pm today.

Believing to be Ms. Watkins' parents, a woman cried and the man who accompanied her drove two young boys to another apartment on the ground floor.

An elderly woman opened the door for them.

A neighbor said today: "It was a lovely and kind woman and a grandmother.

"She has been living here for over 30 years.

"I did not hear anything yesterday when it happened."

A man suspected of murder has been arrested

The police taped to the front of the two-story, ground-floor building and part of a four-story building located across from a children's playground.

The facade of the house seemed well maintained with a paved terrace and a door painted brown.

The net curtains had been pulled through the front windows.

Police said: "The detectives are investigating after a woman was stabbed to death at an address in Southwark.

"The police were called to an address at Ethnard Road, Southwark, Friday, November 16 at 16:04.

"The officers and ambulance service of London were present.

The Metropolitan Police stated that the arrested man and the victim were known to each other

"An autopsy will take place in due course.

"The agents are contacting the next of kin.

"The detectives of the Homicide and Major Crime Command have been informed.

A 55-year-old man on suspicion of murder was arrested and taken to a hospital in East London to be treated for a knife wound.
