Astros Sends Free Red Sox Pizza and Retains New World Series Tradition | Boston Red Sox

A tradition that the Red Sox started four years ago paid off on Tuesday as Boston celebrates its ninth World Series title.

The Houston Astros sent the champions a big pizza from pizza Regina (a North End staple) with a note congratulating them for defeating the Los Angeles Dodgers at the 2018 World Series.

No, Boston and Houston did not bet on the American League championship series. Instead, it's part of the tradition of the previous year's World Series winners to send pies to new champions – as the Chicago Cubs did for the Astros last year.

Who started this tradition, ask yourself? None other than the Red Sox, who, one year after their title in 2013, sent pizza boxes to the 2014 San Francisco Giants champion.

Compliments to the Astros for not being crispy and having kept the pizza chain of victory after Boston shipped them from ALCS.

The Red Sox, meanwhile, will aim to keep the delivery in-house next season.
