CLEVELAND, Ohio – At least three miners were shot dead Friday in a shootout in Union-Miles neighborhood in Cleveland, police said.

The shooting took place around 9 pm on East 131st Street and Southview Avenue.

Police spokesperson Cleveland Det. Reginald Lanton initially stated that seven miners had been shot. Later, he said that the police were still investigating and did not know exactly how many people had been shot, but the police confirmed that at least three people had been shot.

He said that the people who were injured were between 14 and 17 years old. The three wounds were not life threatening.

A 14-year-old kid was taken to Rainbow Hospital Babies & Children's Hospital in a serious condition, said Cleveland EMS.

Cleveland police focused their investigation on a bus stop near the intersection. At least nine casings have thrown the street.

Cleveland police and crime scene unit left the scene around 10:40 pm

The police did not have any additional information, especially about the age of the people who had been shot or about the arrest of anyone.

Jerome Fuller, who lives in the neighborhood, said he was walking in 131st Street shortly before the shooting. He said that a group of kids were walking down the street and stopping at different places to talk.

Two other residents, who did not want to be identified, said they heard between four and ten shots but did not attend the shooting.
