"The problem of fiber optics that has affected parts of the San Antonio area earlier in the day has been resolved and the network is functioning normally," said an AT & T spokesperson in a statement.

According to the Comal County Sheriff's Office, some AT & T customers are not able to call 911 in the counties of Bexar and Comal.

The sheriff's office said the New Braunfels Police Department and the Bexar County Sheriff's Office were in trouble.

According to Comal County officials, AT & T customers could receive the message below when they were trying to dial 911:

"Because of local phone problems in the area you are calling, your call can not be completed yet."

AT & T would apparently work to remedy the failure. Meanwhile, authorities are asking people in emergency to call 911 with a home phone or cell phone from another provider.

Michelle Ramos, a spokeswoman for the San Antonio Police Department, said San Antonio was not experiencing problems. However, if a San Antonio user is unable to connect via 911, they must call the non-emergency number at 210 207-7273.
