NEW ORLEANS – Atlanta Falcons owner Arthur Blank has handed a vote of confidence to head coach Dan Quinn after Thursday's 31-17 loss to the Saints.
Blank expressed total confidence in Quinn, who guided the Falcons to the Super Bowl 2016.
"Absolutely, we love our coach," Blank told ESPN. "Our coach is not the problem."
Quinn and Managing Director Thomas Dimitroff were rewarded with three-year extensions in July. They are signed until 2022.
The Falcons have been inconsistent throughout the season, starting 1-4, winning their record three times in a row, then losing their last three games. Injuries were a problem, with six starters on the injured reserve including Pro Bowlers Devonta Freeman, Keanu Neal and Deion Jones.
"It's a reason, but it's not an excuse," Blank said of the injuries. "That's what the coach would tell you.That's what the players would tell you.There were disabling injuries, but other players were more competitive and have played the best they could, in some cases it's pretty good, in some cases not quite. "
Blank saw a simple reason behind the implosion of another defeat against rival saints.
"I thought it was pretty obvious tonight: we had some turnovers, always brutal," Blank said. "To have four, it's almost impossible to win, and we could not run the ball tonight, we could not stop the race, it's the story of the match."
Quinn hinted Thursday that there could be changes in the offensive line after a poor performance against the Saints.
Regarding coaching changes, Quinn has relied on offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian and defensive coordinator Marquand Manuel throughout the season.
