The iconic New Year tradition – the Rose Parade – takes place along a 5 1/2 mile route in Pasadena. Set up by the Roses Tournament, it starts at 8 am, Tuesday, January 1st, 2019.

This year's theme is "The Melody of Life" with Grand Marshal Chaka Khan, a 10-time Grammy Award winning musician.

The Royal Court will be led by the 101st Rose Queen, Louise Deser Siskel, of San Marino, who has declared to be the first young woman to hold this title, who is Jewish, LGBTQ and wears glasses.

Tuesday's event is the 72nd consecutive television show of the Rose Parade for KTLA.

The parade is on KTLA for two hours without advertising, followed by three reminder presentations. Our own Micah Ohlman, Leeza Gibbons and Mark Steines provide full details on tanks, equestrian units, groups and tournament entries.

You can watch the show coverage live on Channel 5 in Southern California, at your KTLA provider or online above.

Are you a fan of any of the 19 fanfares present in the parade? You can watch an unedited raw feed dedicated to groups on the KTLA Facebook page.

We return to our regular news programs with the special edition of KTLA 5 News at 17:30. Tuesday.
