The 44th edition of Sunday's People's Choice Awards gave viewers what they wanted (what they really, really wanted). And we're not just talking about the Shadow Hunters fandom, whose frustration with the premature cancellation of their favorite show has never been so validated.

Although the annual ceremony voted by the viewer is often a mix, this year's installment – the first to be broadcast on E! – Get things done with amazingly memorable victories, wonderfully awkward encounters and, thanks to the 2018 female artist Nicki Minaj, a highly tweetable sexual advance. (Two if you count his later mention of Kim Kardashian's buttocks.)

Since the cheeky beginning of the series – in which Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly dressed in tuxedo – have stated that the PCA scene was designed by the Louvre architects – in the last moving speech of the lawyer Bryan Stevenson ("More 'Hope, more mercy and more justice!'), it was really an evening of highs.
