DETROIT – The Northern Lights could dance in the skies of Michigan tonight!
The Space Weather Prediction Center predicts that a G1-type geomagnetic storm will arrive from November 9 to 10, which means that aurora borealis could be visible at high altitudes in the United States, including Michigan.
The best chance to see them is the night of November 9 from 16h to 19h and from 22h to 1 am (10 November).
Aurora borealis are seen much more often in northern Michigan than in Lower Michigan, although this is not unknown. The weather is always a factor. Keep an eye on the latest here.

What are the aurora borealis?
The dazzling, dazzling lights of the aurora are actually collisions between electrically charged sun particles that penetrate the earth 's atmosphere. The lights are seen above the magnetic poles of the northern and southern hemispheres.
They are called "Aurora borealis" in the north and "Aurora Australis" in the south. The auroral parades appear in many colors, although pale green and pink are the most common. Shades of red, yellow, green, blue and purple have been reported.
The lights come in many forms, from spots or scattered clouds of light to streamers, bows, wavy curtains or rays of light that illuminate the sky with a disturbing glow.
