An investigation is underway after the police shot dead a black man Saturday night in Minneapolis. Police say Thurman Blevins, 31, was shooting a handgun while he was walking down the street.

The Minneapolis Police Department said in a Facebook post that a 911 caller reported a man firing a gun into the air and into the ground. Another interlocutor said that he was shooting at a 9 millimeter silver pistol.

"A foot chase ensued, which resulted in gunfire. The armed suspect was declared dead at the scene," said police spokesman John Elder.

The locals demonstrated peacefully at the scene after firing at a row of officers who stood silently, and they interrupted Sunday the Pride Parade of the city.

"No matter what happened tonight, the historic trauma inflicted on communities of color is never far from almost every facet of our lives," said Mayor Jacob Frey on Saturday.

He added: "The tense relations between law enforcement officials and the communities they serve – especially the communities of color – have hurt the very soul of our city, of our region and this nation. "

The shooting occurs less than a week after another policeman shot and killed a 17-year-old man Antwon Rose in Pittsburgh. A recently released video showed Rose running from a suspected car in a car shootout 13 minutes earlier. He was shot three times and later died.

"Three knocks in the back, how do you justify that?" protesters chanted Saturday walked for the fourth consecutive night in Pittsburgh.

A new policy of the Minneapolis Police Department Agents should turn on their body cameras at least two blocks from their call location. A spokesman for the department said that the two officers involved in the shootings had their body cameras on this video that has not yet been released.
