FOLKSTON, Georgia – Authorities found three people dead Tuesday after sending police officers to a rural house in southeastern Georgia.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation issued a brief statement on Twitter, stating that two women and one teenager had been confirmed dead in Charlton County. GBI spokeswoman Nelly Miles confirmed to the Associated Press that women were adults.
The main state law enforcement agency did not immediately explain how the three had perished, but said that there was no immediate threat to the surrounding community.
Dispatcher Tina Myers of the Charlton County Sherriff Office said investigators had been sent to the small community of St. George. She says additional information should come from GBI.
WJAX-TV reported that law enforcement vehicles had encircled a house on a wooded lot near an unpaved road on Tuesday and that agents were filming a crime scene and removing boxes of the house.
The Charlton County coroner, Blaine Murray, said he had no comment to make on Tuesday by the Associated Press.
Charlton County is located on the border of the state of Georgia and Florida and includes the eastern parts of the Okefenokee Marsh.
