BARRON, Wis. (WEAU) – An AMBER alert is issued for a missing teenager after her parents were found dead in their Barron home.
Officials from Barron County announced autopsies to 56-year-old James Close and 46-year-old Denise Close. The two men were found dead inside their home early Monday morning. Barron County Sheriff Chris Fitzgerald said that although the death investigation was ongoing, his main goal was to locate Jayme Closs, 13, the teenage daughter of the couple.
Sheriff Fitzgerald said that a 911 call was launched around 1 pm. The call comes from a mobile phone inside the residence, but it's unclear who made the call. "We could hear shouts in the background during this 911 call, little information," Fitzgerald said.
He says that the call lasted less than a minute and that the only word that can be understood is "help".
"The deputy ministers arrived at this address shortly after the end of the call to find no one outside," said Sheriff Fitzgerald, while deputy ministers said: approached the house. The officers then found a dead woman while searching the rest of the house.
James and Denise Closs were both employees of Jennie-O in Barron. The couple lived at home with their daughter Jayme, who is now missing and considered endangered. Officials say she's not a suspect in the death investigation yet. "We do not know what happened, it was a shooting scene," Fitzgerald said.
A neighbor says that she and her husband heard gunshots around 12:30. "Very strong shots, a big rifle and do not think about it at all," said Joan Smrekar. She replied that she did not think to call the police, believing that the shots were those of a person who was shooting at an animal. "Name it here, so no, it did not bother us to hear gunshots, it's just something we hear and with the upcoming hunting season …" she said.
Investigators are working on analyzing the 911 call to learn more, but finding Jayme remains the priority. "We are working with the Barron School District on this case," Fitzgerald said.
The Criminal Investigation Department and the FBI are assisting in this case. Neighbors say the incident is alarming. Sheriff Fitzgerald announced that a cause of death could be published as early as Tuesday after the autopsy.
The AMBER Alert for Jayme Closs is still active. She is five feet tall, weighs 100 pounds, has green eyes, and blond or strawberry hair.

"It's a mother and a father and it's so close to you," Smrekar added. "It gives you goosebumps and it just makes you sad that happens."
Members say that when they received the call, no one on the phone interacted with the dispatchers and, while shouting, Sheriff Chris Fitzgerald said it was difficult to decipher.

Fitzgerald explained, "It's strange, but we think Jamie needs to be localized and we think she's in danger to a certain extent. It is our goal now, it is there that our efforts and our results have been produced.
The FBI and the Criminal Investigation Department participate in the investigation. They chat with friends, family and classmates, and scan Facebook and Snapchat for any sign of Jayme or any indication of what happened.
"She's not a suspect yet," added Fitzgerald. "She's gone and is disappearing. This is a 13-year-old girl who, we are sure, could have been present at the scene. "
