Autumn will arrive in New Orleans, but not this week: daily forecasts

We are in October in New Orleans, but alert spoiler, we will not feel like a fall this week. Better to opt for a spicy iced pumpkin drink.

The Slidell National Weather Service announced that Monday (October 1) would continue to be "unusually hot in season" with maximum temperatures reaching 90 degrees for most of the week. Scattered thunderstorms are expected Monday afternoon, then the risk of rain will decrease.

"Fall-like weather conditions will finally come … but not this week," forecasters said in their Monday morning forecast.

The morning minimums could be 10 to 15 degrees above normal and the daily maximums at 5 to 7 degrees above normal, forecasters said.

Monday: 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mostly after 1 pm Partly sunny, with a high of around 86. At night, mostly cloudy with 20 percent chance of rain.

Tuesday: 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mostly after 1 pm Partly sunny, with a maximum near 88. Partly cloudy at night.

Wednesday: 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1 pm Partly sunny, with a maximum near 88. Partly cloudy at night.

Thursday: 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Generally sunny, with a maximum near 89. Rather light at night.

Friday: A small chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly sunny, with a maximum of nearly 88. Partly cloudy at night.

Saturday: Rather sunny, with a maximum of almost 87. Possibility of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy at night.

Sunday: Rather sunny with a maximum near 88. Chance of showers and thunderstorms.
