Have you heard Aviation Gin now available on Virgin Atlantic flights? That interests you? Probably not. But what if Ryan Reynolds told you? Do you want to worry? That's what I thought.
Funny enough, I recently wrote about Ryan Reynolds and his new toy, Aviation Gin, in my "Ryan Reynolds takes endorsements on another level with Gin Aviation." In this one, I interviewed Joen Choe, vice president of aviation marketing, about the luxury that Ryan Reynolds – Ryan Reynolds must have! – at the immediate disposal of the marketing team. With a talent like him, the content is written. Literally.
Well, the brand has proven my point with an epic distribution ad. That's right, a distribution announcement it's epic. Well, maybe not epic, but it's incredibly well done and proves that Aviation Gin, with Ryan Reynolds as owner and spokesperson, could announce that he's changing supplier to coffee in its offices and that it would remain an attractive and laborious content.
Gin Aviation now on Virgin Airlines. We do not care?
Before answering this, observe this and then tell me if you care or not:
Hilarious, right? So simple – just two guys talking on camera – while being very entertaining. The comic timing of Reynolds can not be beat and he stands out here.
Even Sir Richard Branson, who is never afraid of the camera, does a good job playing Reynolds' film.
And the point is clearly established between the alleged confusion of the "merger": Aviation Gin is now available on Virgin Atlantic flights.
But much more is communicated in this room than that.
Reynolds as an unsuspecting businessman.
The plot of the film plays in the "character" that Reynolds has already established in other content on Aviation: the boiling businessman. Elsewhere in marketing – automatic responses if you send him an email, the website, his interviews with Jimmy Fallon – Reynolds insists that he plays no role in making gin and jokes about his hard work (or not). He loves to drink gin.
Here's a line from one of his hilarious "Out of Office" answers (try sending him an email to [email protected]):
After a long hour of work, I like to go home, take off my slippers and watch my wild dolphin, Jasper-Barnaby, bathe in the moat.
Or even in the press release on the Virgin / Aviation partnership, Reynolds says:
We look forward to serving Virgin Atlantic's clients for years to come and, on a personal note, Sir Richard has promised to teach me the difference between income and profits. I am so happy.
So this video with Sir Richard is consistent with this Reynolds character as himself, only his charming man, scruffy and unkempt.
Incidentally, if you were to send an email to Ryan at the address above now, you will receive the following return with a photo of him and Branson:
I am currently out of the office. To be honest, I'm afraid Sir Richard Branson and Virgin Atlantic will wake up and realize what they did, so I dodge them a bit. If you are not Sir Richard Branson or Virgin Atlantic, I will get back to you as soon as possible.
Ha!
Approved by Sir Richard Branson.
The other highlight of this video is that it involves an endorsement from the refined English icon, Sir Richard Branson.
Why else would Branson agree to have Aviation Aviation on its brand flights? Did I mention that he had been knighted by the Queen of England?
Not bad for a small gin brand from Portland, Oregon.
Or should I say previously small gin brand from Portland, Oregon. We do not know where this brand could go from here.
Judging by this "distribution announcement video", there is still plenty of room for growth.
I look forward to the video "Change Coffee Suppliers".
