In a heartfelt letter to fans, singer Avril Lavigne announced that she will release her new single soon after a long musical break to fight Lyme disease.
Lavigne, 33, wrote in a letter to fans that his new single "Head Above Water" will be released on September 19th. It's been five years since the singer of "Complicated" released an album. his health.
"These are the worst years of my life as I was going through physical and emotional fighting," wrote Lavigne.
Lyme disease is caused by the bacterium Borrelia burgdorferi and is transmitted to humans through the bite of infected blacklegged ticks, according to the Centers for Disease and Control and Prevention (CDC).

The pop star said the music came from a moving place and that she had written songs from her bed and her couch.

Lavigne wrote that she wanted to raise public awareness about the disease and said the Avril Lavigne Foundation was helping to share resources for people with the disease.
"I take my life in hand and I do what it is," she wrote. "I know what I'm supposed to do in this life. Make music."

The Grammy nominated singer has already talked about the disease. She told People in 2015 that she had been "bedridden for five months" after being diagnosed.
"I did not know that an insect bite could do it," Lavigne told People.
"I felt I could not breathe, I could not speak and I could not move," she added. "I thought I would die."
