"After three incredible years, we decided to separate. This difficult decision comes after a thoughtful and respectful reflection. Even if we are separating as a couple, we are very keen to remain friends and we will continue to support each other. Due to the nature of the way we met, our relationship has always been very public and we enjoyed sharing it with you all, but we ask you to respect our decision and our privacy. "

The break occurs after months of growing speculation that the relationship was on the rocks.
In August, 33-year-old Bristowe spoke about rumors about her Of the vine podcast, insisting that even though they had spent more time on the sidelines, they were still together. (She is in her native Canada, while Booth, 31, has focused on her Boothcamp gym in Nashville.)
"So here is the truth. I am in Canada because each year I promised myself and my family that I would come every August to enjoy free time with the people I love in a country I love. " she said. "The family is so important to me. Relationships in general are very important to me. I put the relationships first. "
She continued, "Shawn did not approach me because the guy just bought a gym. He bought a business. He started something huge. This is the most dedicated person I have ever met. He'll have to be there for months. … We are both very busy and, unfortunately, that means we spend all this time on the sidelines. "

Despite their busy schedules, Bristowe said the pair was still "110% committed to one for the other".
"You are both still absent, you are exhausted at the end of the day. Sometimes the relationship is not a priority, but does that mean that you stop smoking? No, she said. "You love each other and you work on it – and you're better. And you know that times will not always be clear. "
In August, Booth opened the door to PEOPLE on the relationship, revealing that they always intended to take things "day-to-day".
"I think everyone who knows us or follows us sees that we like to have a lot of fun," he said. "We do not take ourselves too seriously and we take it on a day-to-day basis, like all other couples."
"We built this solid foundation on the series and have grown stronger since," he continued. "We are lucky enough to connect and we have had a lot of fun for three years, we just support each other and appreciate each other's presence."
