As part of Think Pink Day, Lauren Blumenfeld and her friends are doing their part to raise funds for cancer research.

Blumenfeld, 10, is a fifth-year student at the Roland Park Country School in Baltimore. Two years ago, she created Think Pink Day and sold pink ribbons to raise funds for breast cancer research. Her grandmother had breast cancer, she told WBAL-TV, and after realizing that she probably had friends whose families had the same problem she decided that the school "would be a good place to raise funds and raise awareness"

This month, students organized a bake sale at the school, selling cupcakes, marshmallow lollipops and other treats. All the money they earned – $ 1,200 – was donated to the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Cancer Center at Johns Hopkins, and the kids also made cards for the patients. "It really makes me happy because I know that one day we will make a difference and stop cancer," Blumenfeld said. Catherine Garcia
