Baltimore Ravens – Baker Mayfield of Cleveland Browns, Brett Favre of this generation, John Elway

OWINGS MILLS, MD – The Baltimore Ravens have had huge success against rookie quarterbacks.

But the Ravens do not see Baker Mayfield as your average rookie quarterback.

As Cleveland's Sunday match approached, Don "Wink" Martindale, defensive defense coordinator in Baltimore, presented a noble compliment to this year's # 1 pick.

"I've already said that to the defense, I think Baker Mayfield is Brett Favre or John Elway of this generation, if you will," Martindale said Thursday. "This guy knows where he wants to go with the ball and he's very accurate, he has a quick release and he's playing really well."

Why would Martindale compare a quarterback with two experience games to two quarterbacks of the Hall of Fame?

"The boy's trust and booty," Martindale said. "When he goes out, he thinks he's at the top of the mountain, he's playing games to show that he's at the top of the mountain."

In two games, Mayfield scored 496 yards, scoring two touchdowns and two interceptions (81.2 for smugglers).

On Sunday, Mayfield will face the Ravens and the second defense of the NFL, which has long dominated young people. Under coach John Harbaugh, the Ravens are 15-5 against rookie quarterbacks.

"Baker Mayfield is quite advanced," said coach John Harbaugh. "He's not, I think, a rookie in the truest sense of the word, he seems to have a very good impression of the game."
