Here is the AP summary:

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) – Shane Buechele replaced injured quarterback Sam Ehlinger early in the first quarter and Texas, No. 9, won a 23-17 win over Baylor, which ended when the Bears' last pass was spent at the back of the end zone on Saturday.

Baylor quarterback Charlie Brewer led the Bears from their own 3 in Texas 17 before having to make his last three shots under intense pressure.

This victory makes the Texas bowl eligible (6-1, 4-0 Big 12 Conference).

Halfback Keaontay Ingram ran for 110 yards, the first attempt at a 100-yard Texas run of the season. Defensive end Charles Omenihu had two sacks and was chasing Brewer in the last three games.

Buechele finished the first race in Texas after the match officials sent Ehlinger off because his right and protruding hand was bleeding. Ehlinger walked to the sideline and then to the locker room before school officials announced that he had injured his shoulder. He returned to the sideline but did not play anymore and turned into a street dress.

Buechele was the full-time starter in 2016, when he broke several freshman records at school, but he had not played this season yet. The Longhorns struggled to find an offensive pace for most of the game while Buechele had 184 yards with a touchdown and an interception.

Texas is eligible to bowl in mid-October for the first time since 2009, the last year the Longhorn won the Big 12 and competed in a national championship.

Texas has had consecutive losing seasons from 2014 to 2016 and has not qualified for the playoffs in 2015 and 2016. The Longhorns have now qualified for the bowl games in both seasons of the season. coach Tom Herman.

Brewer had 245 yards and a touchdown for the Bears (4-3, 2-2).

L & # 39; boarding

Baylor: The Bears have not been able to protect Brewer late. They finished their last three outings with Brewer, fired or fleeing, while the pocket collapsed around him. The Bears defense, the worst against the Big 12 race, had a solid match after conceding 300 rushing yards a week earlier.

Texas: The Longhorns may be waiting to see how serious Ehlinger's injury is and whether the opening date of next week will give him time to recover before the next game. Ehlinger scored five touchdowns in a dazzling victory over Oklahoma. He did not initiate interception in 168 attempts, a school record. He had also played all the cliches this season until he was injured.

WHAT IS IN PLAY?

Texas can become eligible for the cup with a win. This has not been the case for the Longhorns in mid-October since 2009. A victory at Baylor would make Texas's return to the top of the Big 12 a thing of the past and bring the Bears back to the forefront of the world. coach Matt. Second season of Rhule.

KEY MATCHUP

Lil 'Jordan Humphrey and Collin Johnson, secondary recipients of Baylor in Texas. Humphrey and Johnson used their size – both are taller than 6 feet 4 inches – to feast on Oklahoma high school last week. Baylor stalkers must prevent Humphrey from turning short winnings into long winnings, and challenge Johnson on jumping balls.

PLAYERS TO WATCH

Baylor: QB Charlie Brewer. The sophomore year has quietly become one of the Big 12's most consistent passers-by and the Austin native will be playing in front of an audience from his home town with a chance to be hugely upset.

Texas: RB Keaontay Ingram. The rookie is gradually playing a bigger role in the Longhorns' offensive. His 13 runs for 86 yards last week against Oklahoma were the two highest of the season. His 6.2-yard average leads Texas runners-up, but Ingram has not scored in four games.
