Beans sent to N.J. may contain hard plastic, warns federal government

Bob Evans Farms is recalling nearly 47,000 pounds of pork sausage ties that may contain pieces of hard, transparent plastic, federal officials said Thursday.

Potentially contaminated raw pork products have been shipped to retail stores in New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and nine other states, according to the US Department of Food Inspection and Food Safety. American Agriculture.

Officials said they found the plastic after customer complaints. According to FSIS, no one reported having contracted the contamination.

"Consumers who have purchased these products are advised not to consume them," said the agency. "These products must be discarded or returned to the place of purchase."

FSIS stated that the following products have been affected:

  • 12 oz. Overpack trays labeled "PORK LINKS WITH BOB EVANS MAPLE". These products contain an expiry date of October 16, 2018 or October 19, 2018 and a lot code of 8213.
  • 12 oz trays labeled "BOB EVANS BROWN SUGAR & HONEY". These products contain an expiry date of October 16, 2018 and a lot code of 8213.
  • 12 oz. Trays labeled "FRESH FROM MEIJER MAPLE SAUSAGE LINKS". These products contain use by September 06, 2018 and a lot code of 8213.
  • 12 oz. Overwrapping trays labeled "SAUCISSES OF SAUSAGES FOR BREAKFAST WITH EAGLE COLOR ADDED GOLD MAPLE PICK". These products contain an expiry date of September 10, 2018 and a lot code of 8213.
  • 12-ounce trays labeled "LUNCH SAFE CONTAINER FROM THE MAPLE SCHNUCKS". These products contain a lot code of 8213.
