Eddie Goldman had his contract extended by the Bears on Friday as scheduled.

The fourth-year tackler has signed a four-year extension, which allows him to stay with the team until 2022. The deal includes a $ 25 million guarantee and a value of more than $ 42 million. the NFL network reported.

Goldman, a second round pick (39th overall) in 2015, is the first draft pick of general manager Ryan Pace to receive a second contract from the Bears. He would have been a free agent after this season.

The 24-year-old has eight and a half sacks in 36 career games.

The Bears appreciate his understanding of leverage and how to win blocks. They believe that he's improved by adding finesse to his brute force, and that he can increase his total bags in a defense that includes a significant competition for those quarterback dismantlers. .

"He is improving his game more and more, being more of a consistent player," said defensive line coach Jay Rodgers early in the year.

"You feel him there. When he is on his game, you really feel it in there. He must maintain this coherence. There were plenty of production opportunities for him, but a lot of people got there before him. So his presence in the middle is felt when he is there.
