A few weeks after the official divorce of the stars, a friend of the couple told PEOPLE their approach side by side to raise their children: Violet, 12, Seraphina, 9, and Samuel, 6 years.

"Jen and Ben continue to work together to make their parenting as transparent as possible," the source said. "They really enjoy doing things with their family, whether it's outings, a church, cooking or watching movies."

"They have both had ups and downs this year and they seem to be in a good position," added the friend.
Affleck and Garner, who announced their split in June 2015, shared their philosophy of co-parenting at Thanksgiving with their children.

"Jen, Ben, and the kids were in Montana for Thanksgiving," said a source from Garner at PEOPLE this week, adding, "It's been a long time coming, they're always celebrating the big family vacation together."
"The whole family spent Thanksgiving together and they all cooked," said a friend of the former couple.
Garner, 46, wrote on Instagram, Thursday, on a playful regression picture in which she disguised herself as a cape: "Thanksgiving is for family and friends, food and football – but do not forget FUN."
In this year of "ups and downs," one of Garner's highs of the year is his love affair with Cali Group CEO John Miller.
"She does not call her boyfriend," an informant told PEOPLE earlier in November about Garner's new connection. "But she likes to attract John's attention. They have fun together and it's easy. "
"She only sees John when she is not busy with her kids," added the insider. "He understands that his children are his number one priority."

Affleck, also 46, is open to Garner to connect with a new flame, Affleck's friend told PEOPLE in October.
"Ben will always want the best for Jen," said the insider. "They continue to have a very strong relationship and both work very hard to make everything easy for children. She always supported him. "
Affleck has the most recently dated Saturday Night Live producer Lindsay Shookus and Playboy Shauna Sexton model.
In October, Affleck spoke to his recent stay in rehabilitation, where he was treated for 40 days. Affleck went into rehab on Aug. 22 to cure his alcohol addiction, PEOPLE confirmed. Garner was seen driving him to the treatment center.
"The support I received from my family, my colleagues and my fans means more than I can say. It gave me the strength and support to talk about my illness with others, "wrote Affleck in his release, posted on his Instagram account. "Fighting all addictions is a difficult struggle that lasts a lifetime. Because of this, we are never really in treatment or at the end of treatment. It's a full time commitment.
